Sources and Domains gap

Assistants lean on third-party websites when they recommend brands. If you appear on the sites they trust, you are recommended more often. These pages show which sites matter.

Sources#

Sources lists the domains and pages cited most often across your tracked answers, with the share of answers that used each one and its type (corporate, user-generated, reference or institutional).

Some assistants, such as Perplexity and Gemini, show their sources. Others do not, so a source list comes mostly from the assistants that cite.

Domains gap#

Domains gap shows domains cited in answers where you are missing. These are the best places to earn a mention: a review site, a comparison article, a directory or a forum thread that assistants already read.

What to do with it#

  1. Start with the domains cited most often.
  2. Open the page that was cited and see why a competitor is there.
  3. Earn your place: contribute an expert answer, ask for a listing, send data for a comparison, or publish something better and tell the editor.
  4. Re-check in a few weeks to see whether the citations include you.

The AI Rank Playbook has a stage for this, called "Get mentioned where AI looks".
